Hi,

I hve just purchsed a BB 7290 from Ebay, it has been unlocked but was orginally on Vodafone.

Anyway, when i put my Vodafone sim in, it says no network coverage, my number comes up but i cannot call or access any emails.

Could someone please point me in the right direction, Do i need to do anything?

Could be a problem from the previous user.

Are you in a good coverage area? Is the radio turned ON?
Do you have a BB Data Plan from Vodafone, without it you will not have access to email, data, etc.

i am not in a great coverage area but i have tried elsewhere, do i need a dataplan to access the network?

You don't need a BB Data Plan to simply access the network or make a phone call, so I am unsure about the cause of that. I would say to reseat your SIM card, but you did mention it shows your phone number, so...

Thanks, im going back to the seller, something doesn't sound right!

Does a BB work the same as phone i.e place a sim in the phone and it should work?

If the BB is unlocked, it will work the same as a phone, ON THE PHONE PORTION.

You just have to remember a BB is much more than "phone".

This may sound simple, but is the 'wireless' on

I know that sometimes when I do a hard reboot, I need to turn the radio or 'wireless' back on.

Another thing to check is your wireless network settings. Check that network selection is either on automatic, or set to the carrier you want. Might be a good idea to make sure it is on automatic for troubleshooting purposes.
