Default JiveTalk 1.0.2 released

Please Login to Remove!

Version 1.0.2:
  • File Transfer support for MSN/Windows Live Messenger. Same user interface as AIM file transfers in build 1.0.1.
  • Auto away setting for in-holster and when idle. There are 2 preference settings for this under the "Auto Away" section.
  • Updated preferences screen. Preferences are now categorized into sections.
  • Better reconnects after phone calls.
  • Better battery conversation. Updated battery saver algorithm for when the application is idle.
  • Jabber resource name setting. For Jabber and GTalk, you can specify a desired resource name when you configure the account (or later when you edit
    the account).
  • Optional alert profile for sent messages. This is a new option under preferences, if checked, will enable a new alert profile that can be used to
play a sound when a message has been sent. You can use this feature to mimick the experience on many desktop IM programs.
  • MSN buddy list load error fixed. This was a high priority bug related to MSN/Yahoo interoperability. Quite a few user experienced problems recently
with loading their MSN buddy lists, which should be fixed with this build.

Nice, thanks.

I'm most interested in the battery conservation improvement. I stopped leaving it logged in since it would drain my battery by 5 or 6pm (at least with my old 7130e). Now that I have the 8830 will see how it does.

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't get anything in email (release announcement), perhaps they're still working on the mailing...

*nod* I forgot about that -- my use is really sporadic, since most of the time when I need IM I'm in front of a computer.

(that and I'm waiting on T-Mo to release that darn 8320 so I can have a real keyboard, IM isn't so fun on the 8100 :( )

I agree on the battery. I just made the move from 1.01 to 1.02

We shall see.

After I upgraded to 1.02, I can't log into any of my IM services. I got timed-out and java lang exception.

I really wish I did not upgrade it today :( (I would need to use it after work when I am away from my PC).

JiveTalk locked up on my Sprint 8830 after leaving it on most of the day. I could toggle away from it to the main screen, but anytime I clicked on the JiveTalk icon, I would get a small dialog with 'Time Out' on it.

I was finally able to get into it and do a Force Logout.

Battery seems to be doing ok, too, with having it on all day (and I didn't charge the device last night). I use the Idle settings in JiveTalk, and also changed some screen settings, too.

Nice to not have a dead battery at 6pm.

i noticed the timed out issue, which i had it earlier, was caused by TMO EDGE service unavailable in S. CA for a short (or a long) while.

I've slightly used the new software release. I haven't had any issues on my 8703e so far.

I've been having problems with GoogleTalk. The status of my buddies at times will not update properly. I can log off then on again and their status is then corrected.

Currently, however, I cannot even log into GoogleTalk through JiveTalk 1.0.2. A message says it cannot connect to host talk.google.com on port 5222, yet I can telnet to this port and log into GoogleTalk through my Gmail account. It's possible BeeJive is working on their server.

Right now, I am wondering if anyone has a copy of JT 1.0, because it is no longer available for download on BJ's website. I think I'd like to revert to JT 1.0 until some of these issues are addressed.

Cheers,
--ss
