Default time/date issues with my bb 8700

Please Login to Remove!

hey guys, i just bought a used 8700c and im running into a small (annoying) problem. The phone and everything else works great, except the time and date, they change randomly! When i try to set it to network time/date, the network time/date is wrong! so is the bb one! so i leave that off and change it manually and its wrong, it changes to something rediculous like 1967 or 2019! any help would be greatly appreciated!

-take out the battery
-do a hard reset
-reinstall the blackberry software or upgrade it if you have old version.
-call RIM?

This is a stretch here but I wonder if you need the daylight savings patch that all BBs had to upgrade to their phone to this March. Go to your service provider's website and sign in to your account and then go to 'support' where you can find OS upgrades...there should also provide you with info on how to put in the patch...if that indeed is the issue. Just a thought.

thanks for the reply guys. my blackberry says in the options "DTS 2007 installed" so i think that patch was applied by the person i bought the unit from./ as for reinstalling the OS, Im soo new to BBs that i dont know where to even begin with that! will any mini usb cord work? or do i need to get a specific one for the bb, because i tried to use the one for my camera and it fits, and vista detects it, but the bb desktop manager software does not! :(

Default losing minutes

i find my 8700 is losing minutes(1 or 2) every day. i have my phone shut down at 10:30pm and turn back on 3:30am. during the day or if i don't turn it off at night it does not seem to lose time. any ideas?

hey guys
ok i figured out how to wipe the unit and reinstall the OS, i did that and i still have the same problem! i set the time and date and then they reset rendomly to something way way off! like its 10 am now and itll reset to 10 pm april 2, 2011 or something crazy like that! this is driving me nuts! :( also in time setup where it shows network time, its wayy off there too so i set update from source to off and its still messed up! :( ahhhhh! if i cant get this time/date thing to work the bb is useless to me as i didnt buy it for BB functionality, I bought it as a cell phone with a great orgeniazer built in lol ... btw i dont have BB service just rogers cell service, do u guys think this is the culprit?
