Default BB connect issues nokia 9300 cingular branded issues

Please Login to Remove!

I've just purchased a cingular 9300 with bbconnect from someone on craigslist, unlocked it and got it going on t-mo for voice and data. But BB connect is giving me nightmares.

Apparently, what seems to be going on is that the PIN is still registered on the cingular BIS, thus not allowing tmo to register the PIN. Both I and the previous owner of this particular 9300 have attempted to contact cingular support to get this taken care of but it's just impossible to get anyone on the phone who has a clue.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on what to do at this point? Tmo has informed me that they will not be able to do anything until cingular removes the pin from their BIS.

Do 9300's with BBConnect have a hard-coded pin? Is there any possibility of assigning a new PIN to this device? If that were possible, that would solve anything. I just spent $150 on this thing and I really don't want it to just end up in a drawer somewhere. It works so beautifully as a cheap month2month modem for my nokia N800, and as a 2ndary phone all around. But I absolutely need it to be able to accept all my 2ndary email via BBConnect. My main email comes in on my verizon 8830.\

thanks so much, this forum rocks,
adam

The PIN is hard coded based off of the IMEI, so it cannot be changed. I ran into a similar problem when switching from Tmo to Cingular and attempting to use the same 9300 after the switch. I ended up calling RIM tech support and they were able to do something on their end to remedy it, although I'm not sure what. The other thing I can recommend is asking to speak to the Cingular Blackberry team when you call. Not sure if your calls have made it to them yet, but they would be the only ones that can truly help. Most CSRs have no clue what a PIN is, other than the 4 digit code that unlocks your phone when you turn it on.
