Wink Language support for web browser

Please Login to Remove!

Hello.
I have a question about language support for web browser.
My phone is Pearl.
My friend had pearl purchaised from AT&T (but had cinguler logo on it) on May, and was able to read Japanese on the web browser without any language support software installed.
Her phone had some issues so she exchenged it recently, and at the same time I purchaised a new pearl from AT&T (both have AT&T logo).
Now we both cannot view Japanese on the web browser at all.
There is a setting for encoding on the web browser but non of them work.
We installed some language support but this only support for reading and writing e-mail but the web browser.
I also tried some other web browser but didn't work. (Minuet Browser and opera mini)
Does anyone know what is going on with new pearl? Are they diferrent between the one from Cinguler and the one from AT&T?
Please let me know...

Thank you so much!

Out of curiosity: what for a firmware-version is installed on your Blackberrys?

I upgraded to 4.2.1.94 and after that I couldn't see Japanese or Korean. I will try to downgrade and hope that I can see Japanese and Korean again…

After a downgrade to 4.2.0.61 (I guess with 67 it should work as well) I got a again support for Asian (only titled "Support for Korean") and semitic languages. It's missing at least in 4.2.1.94 from Vodafone Germany

Sorry for the slow response. I lost the link to this page and took a while to get here.
Thank you so much for the information, and also try out with yours. I am glad to hear it is working on your pearl!
I will try to downgrade the firmware tonight.
Thanks again for your help!

BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

that's where i found mine, you have to follow the links of various providers to see if they still have the older OS. i downgraded to 4.2.0.67 to make mine read japanese again. i'm not sure if any of the carriers on that link still have an old enough os, though... i used the cincinnati bell one, but they have a newer OS on there now.

here's the thread that helped me find that link:

Does anybody know how to read korean language under this new upgraded version? I want to keep this new version yet I don't like the fact that I can no longer read korean on the web browser.
