Question micro sd card question

What does formatting the sd card do? Is this something that I should do before using it, or can I just put it in and start putting stuff on it?

It's recommended you format the card by going to Options >Advanced Options >Media Card >press the menu key and select "format card." This puts all the necessary folders and system files on the card for use with the BB.
