I know some of you guys already have your 8320 fix, but I don't, and I'm in DIRE need for it. I travel a lot and NEED the WiFi calling desperately.

Is ANYONE with an 8320 willing to sell me theirs? I'm willing to pay to make it worth your while.

As long as I'm connected to WiFi overseas, I should be able to make local calls, right? On TMO H@H?

I may have to! Currently, I'm spending around $300 to $400 on international calls initiated from overseas every week while traveling. My travels are short and in different places, that getting a local SIM and messing with the phone, etc. is truly a hassle. If I'm spending that much on just phone calls, and I'm almost always in the vicinity of WiFi, why not offer to pay someone a bit more and get the BB with WiFi? That's just my reasoning. There are so many alternatives to this, i.e. vonage wifi, etc. etc. but it just comes down to convenience -- And using your BB anywhere and everywhere for emails.

Me either. You may want to consider picking up a foreign provider that has more favorable roaming rates for calls. I'd suggest an Asian or Middle Eastern provider.

I assume you are counting on SKYPE for calls. I am not so sure the BB has the horsepower to make it a usable call.

I agree that getting with a local phone or a local SIM for your device is most likely the best and cheapest solution.

Jyamani - when I travel overseas, I carry an unlocked quad band GSM phone with me, and use local SIM cards to minimize calling costs. I don't mess with the BB.

I do have another phone that I carry with me, but the problem is that my BB is tied into our PBX system, and is on an extension from work. So I HAVE to take and make calls from that #. Bills are taken care of through work, but I am also a partner in the business and so I'm eventually paying for it, one way or the other.

Will the 8320 not work on WiFi overseas to make calls? Just as it would from TMO H@H, using UMA?

I don't believe it is a seemless as you think it will be (or should be).

The 8320, when released on the 24th, *will* be available for use as part of the H@H plan, and thus should technically do what you're looking to do. You don't need a Skype-like app. The ability to automatically swap/handoff b/t wifi and GSM is built in. That said, users of the existing phones on H@H have reported ocassional dropped calls and other oddities. Check the howard forums for more info, along with Walt Mossberg's review.

As no one wants to sell their 8320 for now, and honestly, I don't know why anyone would, I believe I have no other option but to wait out. I currently have a Samsung Q1 Ultra that I have Vonage Softphone on that I use on WiFi to call home / friends.

I'm just hoping that once its out, it'll be as seamless as we all hope it to be. Otherwise it'll just be like having a Pocket PC instead of a BB, with issues.
