Default From cingular to rogers question

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

Just purchased an unlocked Cingular 8700.....i currently run on the ROGERS network but I would like to have the ROGERS firmware on it.

Is that possible? After I wipe the unit clean can I install the ROGERS firmware or do I need to stay with the Cingular upgrades?

You should be able to install any 8700 GSM compatible firmware on it. It is rare that it will cause issues. The most recent issue I have heard of when using an unlocked device is with T-Mobile users trying to use the Curve without a specific firmware. If they don't use that specific firmware they don't get the browser service book downloaded.

You can leave it in. The upgrading of the firmware will wipe out the data on the BlackBerry, not the SIM card. You can take it out if you like, though. I do recommend making a backup of the BlackBerry prior to upgrading.
