Default Used 8310 - can't set up account

Please Login to Remove!

i just took delivery of a second hand 8310. The hex pin number seems to be linked to a prior network and needs to be unsubscribed from this network to allow it to be registeted with my new network. Any suggestions as to how to go about this. Can RIM do this? Can prior provider do this?

sconny - I moved this to its own thread as you replied into an existing thread.

Contact the prior owner and ask them to delete the account on their BIS.

Thanks. The full story is that i bought a second hand Blackberry from the UK. I am now trying to get this operational in Belgium. When i eneter the PIN code and IMIE number on the belgian mobile service web site it tells me that the PIN is in use. I have contacted the person who sold the Berry to me who (so far) has not responded nor provided any information that he can or will be abel to make whatever change is necessary. What is BIS? I suspect that the berry was previously registered with a UK service e.g. Vodaphone. I called thier helpdesk yesterday but they did not understand what chnage was needed. Can you provide precise instructions as to what the prior owner needs to do to allow the PIN to be re-registered in Belgium?
Many thnaks,

The previous owner needs to call their cell carrier and cancel their BIS account. This will delete the PIN and IMEI and allow you to use it and set up your email BIS account.

Just one of the pitfalls of buying a used BB.

I own a BB8320 which has BIS from T-mobile, but I have to live pat time in Mexico now due to work, I unlocked my phone with a code t-mobile gave me and I now use a prepaid SIM Card, I just signed up for a prepaid BIS from this company, and after I tried to set up the new account this is what my service provider said "This Blackberry is registered to a different service provider, register it again and verify if that the URL matches the one provided by the service provider"

(Original Text) Esta BlackBerry está registrada con un proveedor de servicio distinto. Vuelva a registrarlo y compruebe que la URL coincide con la proporcionada con el proveedor de servicio. (Original Texts Ends)

What would the best solution for this problem. I have some experience with the Customer Care people and many of them donxxx8217;t even know what a BlackBerry looks like, I am guessing Monday is going to be a long day on the phone.

You will have to remove the BB from the TMO BIS account in order to register the BB with another provider. Can't have it active on more than one account at a time.
