Default "Disallow 3rd Party downloads" vs BES Software configurations

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

Sort of related to this thread below me

Got me thinking.

Let's say I am running BES 4.1.6 with Exchange 2003.

I have a bunch of applications that we use for the BB's, but these are all pushed out via the BES as Software Configurations (over the air).

I also have an IT Policy that is set to "Disallow 3rd party downloads" that I have just set to TRUE.

If I want to push more applications out via a BES Software configuration, will that IT policy that disallows 3rd party downloads prevent this? So, in essence, which one overides which?

Thanks!

Hi John,

Yes the "Disallow 3rd party downloads" setting will cause the BES push installation to fail for your 3rd party apps in your Software Configurations.

I'm curious as to where you get the applications for the BES. We have not had any trouble setting up Software Configurations or pushing out applications. However we have had a LOT of trouble finding .alx and .cod files for the applications we would like to push out.

Am I missing something obvious? Any tips would be appreciated.
