Default BB 8520 Wifi problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

First post here and directly a problem, sorry!
I've recently bought an BB 8520.
When I go to connections and turn my wifi on, the SSID name will be showed but I don't get a green checkbox behind it.
I'm getting a - in a grey box.
I've set the dataservices to blocked because I don't have a data-plan, and all the browsers are set to 'hotspotbrowsers'.
When I go to the browser he gave's me an error that I'm not connected to any network.

What am I doing wrong?

You won't get a green check. Green check means connected to BIS through wi-fi; which, without a data plan, won't happen.

Setting Data Services to OFF stops WI-FI also, because it is a data service.
Try turning it back on.

Hi,

thanks for the answer.
But when i put the dataservices back on, it will uses the mobile netwerk to go on the internet and not my Wifi.
So it cost me money, something I don't want because I've got wifi.

Regards

If your browser is set to HOTSPOT it can ONLY use wi-fi.

Hi,

I've just discovered that there is one browser (WAP) that I can't set to hotspot.
Is that the problem?

best regards,

Joris

No. Because if DEFAULT BROWSER is HOTSPOT then that's what you use.

If you want to make absolutely sure you aren't going to be charged, uncheck Mobile network in manage connections.

You obviously wont get calls/texts, but it means you can't access the mobile network to be charged.
