I use a BB 7520 with Nextel, and my phone is a Motorola V710 with VZW.

Can't beat VZW with voice in the NY/NJ area.
Nextel is good for work though, since I get a lot of calls (free incoming).

I currently use only the BB7250 through Verizon for both voice and data/pda functions. I couldn't imagine having to manage two seperate devices unless absolutely necessary, although I know those who do/have.

if you have a BT headset, can you have it connect to both devices simutainously?

I carry a vzw vx7000 and a nextel bb 7520 (voice ans data) right now. but the vzw will be phasing out very soon. since I have a NXTL demo plan I have plenty of minutes and unlimited data. so there is no need anymore for both.

i860 and BB7520 is what I am carrying. I am thinking about the v710 for VZW if I were to try something new.

I am using two devices also. A T-Mo 7230 and a Motorla v710.

I want to upgrade to the 7290 and the rest of my family (3 other cells) is on Cingluar. I have been wrestling with going with a Cingular 7290 so we can do the cell to cell thing. I just can't being myself to talking into a blackberry. Not sure why, my friends/co-workers do, but I can't seem to get thruogh it.

I am wondering if I get the Cingualr 7290, will I get the free mobile to mobile even if I only get the BB unlimited data?

Jeff

I know people carry two devices, but I kinda think it defeats the purpose. The BB is truly the "all in one" device and I am amazed every day just how damn cool it is!

I carry a Nextel 7520 and an I830. I tried an all in one solution when I had the 7510 but alot of direct connects don't get through. This didn't matter at first but started missing important DC's so I had to split it up again. It sucks but ohhhh welll.

I currently use both a cellular phone and my BlackBerry.

My cellular phone is strictly for personal use and I've had it for over 5 years. It's a Motorola Timeport 8767 on the TELUS Mobility CDMA 1x network. I've got a great rate plan giving me 200 daytime minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends at 7pm and a bunch of other switch related goodies.

Next up is my BlackBerry 7250 also on the TELUS Mobility CDMA 1x network. The main reason I use my BlackBerry seperately is pretty simple - to seperate between my personal and work/business life. I use my BlackBerry strictly for business and work purposes. I'm a freelance media consultant within the law and real estate industry so being able to keep up with my clients is crucial in my daily taskings.

I also have a Samsung x426 on the Rogers GSM network given to me from my daily job. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of GSM (personal reasons) so that has been donated to my dear mother.

In an ideal world, I would definately love to integrate everything with my BlackBerry but of course, life would be a lot more hectic than it already is.

For the moment i'm stuck with the bat belt system but from what i've seen here i'm kinda considering going with just the blackberry when my contract is up on the other phone. Perhaps the data use can offset my excessive voice usage that the corporate plan the BB is on can't provide for. But the corporate plan has wicked discounts for features, and in-store rebates for upgrades so the bb number is definitely here to stay. But i tried using the blackberry as a phone and i think if i did go all-in-one, i'd definitely get a bt headset going.

One of the main reasons I fear doing this is the inability to tell the difference between a phone call and an e-mail. I get about 150 e-mails a day, and can't be pulling my BB out to see if it's a phone call each time. I wish there was a different type of vibration that you could set for phone as opposed to e-mail. IS there on the 7290? I dont see anything on the 7230.

Jeff, There is a different tone you can set for each. However, I have my device so regular messages don't alert me at all. Only a few special ones are set to Level 1 in filters and I have level set to alert me. So My device only vibrates for level 1 messages, phone calls, Calendar reminders and PIN to PIN messages. Not to many of each actually, for me.

I am on the fence about dropping Cingular and going 100% NXTL. I am not a big fan of SBC but I am very pleased about their GSM quality.
If you don't mind me asking, why do you think that you have to jump through sim card hoops? I actually work for Cingular Retail and we currently have the 7100G for about $249.99 on a 2yr agreement with an unlimited datackage @ $39.99 if you already have voice service, which you seem like you do... IMO it would be more cost effective for you to just add the unlimited data feature to your existing account... but that's just me. And I'm not just saying that because I work for Cingular because I would like to think that I am a honest sales person. On top of that, I can only make sales if you're in Maryland so it really does not benifit me... if you have already had your "Next-To-Hell" ...lol...service for a while and it works out for you then that's all it matters... I have worked with 3 different wireless providers- ATTWS, Cingular and Sprint and so far, Cingular seems to be the most reliable for ME, may not be the same for you... Honestly, "GSM" is the future of wireless, that's what the europeans you and most BB's are international capable... so if you're thinking long term then staying with GSM will be the more cost effective way to go... everyones usage is different, some love Nextel, some love Cingular... every company has it's strong and week points... it all comes down to what suites you the best...Just trying to help out...thanks for listening to me ramble.

Very good point... if you haven't tried a BB my advice is for you to get it and try it out for a period of time... most companies have a "satisfaction" guarentee... ie, Cingular is 30days unconditional... most people who use a BB normally fall in love with it... You will become a BB junkie like the rest of us. I can't live without mine good luck! Thanks.

I get the different 'tones', but my phone is on vibrate and in the holster about 90% of the time. I can't have it playing WILLIAM TELL in the middle of a meeting to annouce a call. Heck, the vibrate fuction is sometimes so powerful that you can hear it during a meeting. I KNOW...I COULD put it on QUIET when I am in a meeting...but who remembers.

I just wish it had different states of vibration like my V710. short-short short, or long-long-long, stuff like that. It HAS to be possible...

Cool Using Seperate Phone And Bb

Verizon LG phone $150 per month, 3000 plus minutes plus unlimited nites and weekends....BB 7230 with T-Mob..had for 1 year Data plan only for $40 a month and just yesterday added the Voice plan(different # than my Verizon #) $29.99 for 300 minutes plus unlimited weekends .This reduced my data plan to $19.99 month. So for extra $10 ,I now get both Voice and Data...Still keepin my Verizon phone and number, have had the number for 9 years and dont want to transport to T-Mob...My BB had flash memory problem awhile back and it took T-Mob 11 days to get me new one. Thats why I dont want phone and Data tied to my BB.
