This is pretty frustrating. For whatever reason, I can not load on BB Alerts v. 1.49 via the Blackberry Loader. When I click on the .alx file, it tells me there is not a version for my device. Im not sure whats up with that. I deleted my old version of the BB Desktop and reinstalled it but have the same problem.
None of the OTA links in the thread work, except a v1.2 link, but 1.2 does not play very nicely on my 8820. I am hoping 1.49 will based on what others have reported in this thread.
So, I am left with these options, but all give me roadblocks:
1. Find an OTA link for 1.49 that works..... anyone have one?
2. Find someone who has the jad/jar files and load them on my webserver and do an OTA install that way.
3. Figure out why the BB loader method will not work (any ideas? or is there another subforum that would be more appropriate to post this problem?)
4. Convert the alx/cod files I have to jad/jar, load them on my web server and do an OTA. I can find plenty on how to go from jad/jar to alx/cod, but not the other way around.
If anyone can help, I am all ears.

I want to thank BByMel who sent me a PM regarding my above posts and has the OTA server up and running now. The link for version 1.49 works and I was able to download and install the version on my 8820.

Which OTA link. I get a 404 error with the latest one posted here. Can you post the link or by Mel to do it? I too want 1.49.

I found my old habdango receipt and redownloaded from there. A working ota would be good though.

For OTA of 1.49, i use:
http://bbymel.servebbs.com/sms/BlackBerryAlerts.jad
Note that it's case sensitive and needs to be typed in exactly as shown.

FYI, this is the same OTA link that is in this thread many times. Evidently, according to Mel, the server was down. I guess he saw my posts and sent me a PM. BTW, all URLs are case sensitive.

Is there a way to use the "service blinking green light" and the light alerts in BBAlerts. Seems like when I get a BBAlert light, and clear the message, the blinking green light to show i have service doesnt come back on. I have have to go into the options>screen/keyboard option on the BB and turn this option off and then back on to get it to blink green again. I dont use green for any of my alerts.

BB Alert ver 1.6
Anyone had message "Missing module BBalerts" when starting 1.6? I have a 7130e running 4.1.0.384. Checked permissions, all looks well.

unfortunatly there is not. :( same goes for the blue LED for the bluetooth indicator.
what I do, to maintain consisntencey, is turn off both network coverage LED and bluetooth LED, that way I never have a "sometimes on" color code.
me and Klotar have proposed that BByMel create a "no new message" light choice for the program, so that people can both "have a LED flashing all the time" and also to "quickly glance and see that there are no new messages/the program is functioning correctly". BByMel has stated he may be able to add this to a version soon. (keeping our fingers crossed.) I really want this feature, because I love how BBalerts lets me know if I have missed an email, phone call, etc. with certaintiy (as opposed to RIMs use of the LED), but I cant always tell if I *could* see the LED. (ie - if my strap is covering the LED, I cant see that I have a new message, but if I were able to quickly glance and see an ORANGE LED, then I would know I "have nothing to worry about". (yay OCD!)
Best,
BigMatty

Am I missing something.
When I had BB Alert 1.49 on my 8700 it had various colors including white, teal, and other alert signals. Now with both the 1.60 and 1.49 versions I have recently installed there are only the basic red, blue, green abd purple alerts. What happened to the white and other colors. Also, why is yellow listed but inoperative

My yellow always showed as more of a bright green.
But anyways, is the program running in registered mode? I'm not questioning your registration, but the last time I upgraded OS's, BBAlerts was restored properly as part of the handheld OS upgrade but lost it's registration key info. I didn't notice for a week or so until I got a registration reminder. I then also noticed my custom colours had disappeared and some of my settings too.
Although from your description, it sounds like the options for those colours to be assigned to the various alerts is missing altogether. Not sure what to comment on that, except to check the version number in About or in Applications. Then again, sometimes the version number didn't get changed if I recall correctly.
Perhaps try a re-install from one of the links on this page or one back.\

Klotar:
Maybe that is my problem. I am using the trial version and have not gotten the registration key from Handango as of yet. What thru me was when I went to get my registration key from Handango, I come to find that you have to pay 6+ dollars to load the program on another phone, even though I purchased the program for my 8700 a couple of years ago. So, as I understand it, each time you change phones and need a new registration key for your new phone, you have to pay handango six bucks for a program that you paid nine to twelve bucks for?
Do i take it that you are getting white, yellow colors, etc. Maybe I need to pay the fee and get my new registration key

hmm not sure what is going on there. As I wild guess you are not seeing the whole drop down menu since the colors you listed are at the top of the drop down menu. Maybe try highlighting it and keep pressing space and see if you see more colors.
Also there should be custom color 1 and custom color 2 so you can make any color you want.

Okay, after spending a whole evening on this and having Mel send me a good OTA link I give up on the colors. Yes, I see all of the LED colors in the menu but when I assign them I only get red, blue, green, and purple. the white, yellow and cyan do not play on my device. Now I am using the 8320. Are other 8320 users getting these colors on their device. I was able to get them on my 8700, but not my 8320.
Really frustrating, but not a deal breaker. I still love the program.
Also, cannot seem to make custom colors and have them play on the device. I guess that is because I have no idea how to actually make the custome color
